Dr. James Watterson

Dr. James Watterson is a staff urologist with the Division of Urology at The Ottawa Hospital. He is also the Vice-Chair Education for the Department of Surgery at the University of Ottawa. He completed his urology residency at The Ottawa Hospital and went on to complete a fellowship in endourology and shock wave lithotripsy at Western University. He is the former urology residency program director and remains very involved in the teaching of residents in the OR and in clinic. He is a leader in Competence By Design curriculum development for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. His practice focuses on the management of complex stone disease and minimally invasive surgery. His research interests include surgical education and outcomes of endourologic procedures. He is known for his ability to know every single staff in the OR’s name and role, as well as his for his air guitar in-between clinic dictations.
