I was sucked into the vortex of how cool, happy and friendly everyone was during my first rotation. The more I got to know the field, the more I felt it was for me. What’s not to like (Fournier's excluded)?
Why did you choose Ottawa for residency?
Was lucky enough to have the inside scoop as a local student. I had a chance to work closely with a lot of the staff and residents and the culture here was second to none. Five years is a long time. While you’ll get a great training anywhere in Canada, if you love going to work everyday, the rest comes easy.
What is your favourite thing about the Ottawa Urology residency program?
I think the program is very progressive from the top down. The division has had excellent leadership. Everyone is always looking for ways to improve and adapt the resident training experience. Recently, adjusting to competency based training and the COVID pandemic have highlighted this.
Tennis, squash, golf, downhill/xcountry skiing, long hikes with chocolate lab sidekick Guinness.
Did medschool in French because it sounded sexier.
